Now available on every 2018 Volkswagen Tiguan and 2018 Volkswagen Atlas near Essex, MD, the Volkswagen Digital Cockpit (VDC) is a welcome sign that the future of automotive technology is here, ushered in by – who else? – the innovators at the Volkswagen Group. No more dials, pointers, or printed numbers – the VDC is 100% digital and 100% cool.

At 12.3 inches from corner to corner and boasting a 1440 x 540 high-resolution thin-film display, the VDC is pretty to look at. It’s also a lot of fun to customize, with users able to configure the VDC to show the exact information they want to see, in the format/size they want to see it. Elements shrink and enlarge, depending on driver preference, and there are several preset views to enjoy, ranging from Classic, Navigation, and Driver Assist Systems to Gear & Speed, Economy & Range, and Off-road.

Classic view hearkens back to the old days, with prominently-displayed speedometer and tachometer. Off-road view is the mode to choose when you’re on the unbeaten path. With this view selected, the VDC shows a compass, the angle of the vehicle’s front wheels, and an altimeter that shows how high you are. You can also mix and match different information in a “dial within a dial” approach: for example, within the large-size speedometer and tachometer you can display inner dials with navigation, fuel range, driver assistance features, and more.

And the VDC isn’t just a pretty face. It can also help you make a phone call, alert you to pedestrians in the vehicle’s path, and connect you with personalized settings like climate control and seat position. See the VDC in action today at Heritage Volkswagen Parkville, your shopping destination for a Volkswagen Atlas, Volkswagen Tiguan, and Volkswagen Beetle near Parkville, MD!
